Principal's Message Term 2 Week 2 2024

Mother's Day

A huge thanks to the members of our Community Council, who coordinated this morning's Mother's Day Breakfast. This event was a raging success and could only be made possible through the combined efforts of the dedicated staff and parents who contributed to the event. We wish all mothers an enjoyable day on Sunday. As one wise person once said "Life doesn't come with a manual, it comes with a mother".

Term Overviews

Term overviews were distributed via COMPASS on Thursday. These give our parents a conclusive understanding of the content being taught each term as well as vital information regarding significant events this term. Thanks to our amazing staff for preparing these.

MTS Open Days

On Wednesday May 15 and Wednesday May 22 Mother Teresa School will be opening it's doors to the community, welcoming many prospective families to our community. These open days will be facilitated by our incredible Year 6 leaders, who will revel in the opportunity to tell others about why they love Mother Teresa School.

Cross Country

The Cross Country carnival was held under grey and ominous skies yesterday morning but that did not dampen the excitement nor the competitive spirit between the houses. In one of the closest sports carnivals ever held at Mother Teresa, 35 points was all that separated 4th and 1st place. In the end, Irwin house was victorious, claiming their second sports carnival for 2024 after winning the swimming carnival.

Our champion runners for each age group are:

12 years: Luke J & Emily E

11 years: Dash M & Isabelle O'Brien

10 years: Lachlan R & Lexi-Lee T

9 years: Romeo I & Charlotte S

8 years: Blake S & Lily M

Finally, a huge thank you to all the parents who volunteered their time to make sure the carnival ran smoothly. We can't have these events with the support of the parent community.

An event will be released next week for those students who finished in the top 5 who have qualified for the regional carnival.

A huge thanks to Mr Russell for his dedication and resilience in ensuring  that our Cross Country Carnival was an event to remember. He is very quickly becoming the "King of Carnivals".

Early Career Teacher Commissioning Mass

For the past two days our two 1st Year teachers, Mrs Danielle Cooper and Mrs Bernadette Matthew, have been participating in some professional learning to network with their peers and enhance their knowledge of the teaching profession. They also participated in a commissioning mass, welcoming all new teachers to Catholic Education. We congratulate both of them and are very proud that they were able to represent Mother Teresa School with great distinction.

Death cap mushroom warning

This deadly fungus has caused multiple poisonings and deaths in Canberra. They often grow near established oak trees but have also been found in other places. Autumn is the peak growth period.

The key message is not to touch, pick or eat any wild mushrooms.
