The Whole school focus theme for this JUBILEE 2025 year is ‘PILGRIMS OF HOPE’
This term at Mother Teresa School we will use the theme that:
The Journey of Faith: Dream, Slow Down, and Reflect
“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” — Jeremiah 29:11
We will show the value of Compassion towards those we meet in our class and on the playground by following ‘The Mother Teresa School Way’:
- Empathise
- Include others
- Recognise and respond to others’ needs
- Express care
- Describe feelings
- Take action to assist others
- Allow others to be themselves
Journey with Jesus Retreat
On Friday our Year 6 students, teachers and Miss Greenwood participated in a faith-filled experience. They were led by Mr Luke Maher and the CSYMI team. The day was packed with games, activities, dramas, videos and talks that all explore the Gospel messages of God’s love, salvation, and forgiveness.
The students spend the day learning about what we need in life for our journey with Jesus. Using a backpack full of items, we learn that on a journey we need a water bottle, which represents the essential and unconditional nature of God’s love, a torch which represents salvation and the light of Jesus in our lives and a first aid kit to represent healing and forgiveness when things go wrong.
At the end of the day the students reflected and responded on their journey so far. They enter a time of prayer, and it was beautiful to see the students coming forward with open hearts to invite Jesus into their lives.
As the Journey with Jesus retreat day came to an end, the students were clear on the message that it is not in fact the end of their journey but just the beginning and they leave the day eager to see what God has planned for them!
Something to Think About
Think about the many ways in which you are blessed. Can you name some of your blessings?
The Story
In today’s gospel, Jesus tells the people about the things that God values. God gives special blessings to those people who are hungry, sad, or poor. People who are rejected or insulted by others, and who feel sad or unloved, can look forward to a reward in heaven. Jesus is reminding us that the ways and values of the world are not necessarily the ways and values of God.
