Principal's Message Term 3 Week 4 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Staffing news

Please note the following staff arrangements and changes occurring around the school

  • Mrs Danielle Cooper will be away for approximately another three weeks as she had to undergo surgery on her shoulder. Mrs Amanda Gainey will be taking the class from Monday to Thursday during this time. Fridays are still to be organised
  • Miss Kate Higgins is currently on leave until the end of Week 5.
  • Miss Carly Salmon has left for England to participate in the CommBank Paramatildas Women's Intercontinental Cup. Carly has been named Captain of the team. Carly will be away for the next two weeks. Wishing the team lots of success.
  • Next Monday, we welcome Mr Lachlan Hennassy to the Year 4 teaching team. Lachlan is an experienced teacher who joins the staff as a permanent teaching member. I know we are all looking forward to his arrival, especially the children. A big thank you to Mrs Samantha Burgess and Mrs Ana Bristrow, who have been covering the class for the last few weeks.
  • Mrs Ana Bristow has taken up a part-time temporary contract at Mother Teresa, to the end of the year, to provide much needed relief when staff are away.
  • Congratulations to Mrs Kim Harris, who will be Acting Coordinator for the next 6 weeks while Mrs Penny Brown takes LSL. Ms Emily Niu will be taking the class while Penny is away
  • I am delighted to advise that Mrs Ali O'Brien has taken up a permanent position on the Mother Teresa school staff. While sad to leave the work of the ELC, she has thoroughly enjoyed her time with the older Year 1 student.
  • Unfortunately, I have not heard any news about the appointment of a new school counsellor.
  • Next Friday will be Mrs Jess Binet's last day as she will be accessing maternity leave. We are still looking for a teacher to fill this teaching position

Principals Conference Cairns

Next week I will be attending the National Catholic Education Commission conference in Cairns. There is a group of twenty principals and CE staff attending this important conference to look at the development of Catholic Education in our local school. Please direct any concerns to Craig Hart while I am away from next Tuesday.

Boorowa Netball and Touch Carnival

This year we are currently only offering the students in Years 5 & 6 with the opportunity to attend this year’s carnival. This decision hasn’t been made lightly but is impacted by the number of available staff who have indicated they are available to attend this longer day to ensure we maintain the correct teacher/student ratio and the declining number of children in the lower grades taking up the offer of participation in recent gala day competitions. I know this will be disappointing news for some families.

New Compass Kiosk
This week we took delivery of our new Compass Kiosk. Parents coming into the school as a visitor, will now need to enter their WWVP card number when signing in. Please come ready.
Have a lovely weekend
