Principal's Message Term 3 Week 6 2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

Staffing News

From next week, Mrs Kelly Boyton and Mrs Lauren Maher will be accessing their long service leave to travel overseas. This time was booked well over a year ago. Mrs Maria Radic will increase the number of her work in 6 Onyx, which will make for a smooth transition. I am still finalising the teacher arrangement for 1 Topaz.

I am delighted to announce that Mrs Fiona Matchett will be Acting Coordinator while Mrs Boyton is away. Mrs Kim Harris has taken on the Acting Coordinator's role while Mrs Penny Brown is on leave.

At this stage, Mrs Danielle Cooper will be on leave until Week 8, all depending on the progress of her shoulder repair. Mrs Amanda Gainey will continue to take the class.

Miss Sophie Riley is joining the staff on Monday, working in a range of classes to get to know our children and school routines. I am delighted to welcome Sophie to our staff.

Mrs Jess Binet is currently enjoying her paternity leave, and we continue to wait for her exciting news. It has been regrettable that we have not been able to find a suitable replacement before Jess left. I am thankful to Mrs Barbara Rundel Dobson and Mrs Sarah MacAthur, who have ensured the class programs have continued smoothly.

A big thank you to Mrs Lauren Maher for her amazing contributions to leading our Religious Education programs and liturgies over the last six weeks, in her role as Acting REC.

Irwin Party Celebration

On Tuesday, August 26 the students from Irwin House participated in a play at Franklin Park to celebrate winning the Term 2 prize. Congratulations Irwin House! Thank you to Mr Hart for his coordination of a fun session.

Year 3 Excursion
This week the Year 3 Students went on an Excursion to the to National Museum,
please see the comments from some of the children below!

I thought the Mr Squiggle exhibit would just be the show, but it was actually fun to learn about how the show was made. I thought it was just going to be an art gallery, but the museum was a gallery of Indigenous culture.- Tenneal 3 Cobalt

I liked exploring the Australian exhibit, especially looking at the animals, and the indigenous drawing of animals – Teddy 3 Cobalt

I enjoyed looking at the crocodile as it looked like it was about to come to life! – Elise 3 Sapphire

I really enjoyed trying to draw things from Mr Squiggle, it was an amazing day! – Campbell 3 Turquoise

I really enjoyed seeing the iguana skeleton, it was like seeing a real-life dinosaur – Austin 3 Aqua

I really, really, really enjoyed the Garden of Australian Dreams. It was so cool to see the different places around Australia in an outside space! – Emily 3 Aqua

It was my first time experiencing a museum, and I loved seeing all the old artefacts and so much history! – Ruth 3 Turquoise
