Sports with Mrs O'Keefe
The Sports Spectacle
Hey everyone! I know you've been longing for your weekly dose of sports gossip! I've been off playing the role of a hockey coach for the U12 ACT Girls Hockey Team. My girls gave it their all and achieved a glorious 5th place—right in the middle of the action!
Last Sunday, we had the fabulous trio of Charlotte Faulks, William, and Stella Tanchevski competing in the ACT Schools Cup at Perisher. They took on the Alpine category like pros and I think they might have shattered some Personal Bests—watch out Olympic team!
While I was away, our fearless 3/4 Oztag team bravely stormed the Gala Day. Huge thanks to the coaches who donned their capes to make it all happen, and a massive shoutout to Mrs. McGuire and Miss Caputo for keeping the chaos in check while supervising the kids!
Looking ahead, we’re revving up for the North Gungahlin Track and Field Carnival next week! A whopping 54 students will be representing MTS. It’s an all-weather track, so for those attending, pack your sunscreen, raincoats, and maybe even a snow shovel—who knows what we’ll get!
ACT Capital Football have reached out to the school and offered a one- time offer. They are delighted to offer our school community with a 20% off discounted ticket link to watch the Socceroos take on New Zealand right here in Canberra on Friday 5 September at GIO Stadium. Use this special link to get 20% off tickets while they last!

Interschools Skiing Competition Recap written by Charlotte Faulks and Stella Tanchevski.
This winter season 3 Mother Teresa School students represented their school in two separate skiing events held on Perisher’s Front Valley. The first was the ACT/Southern NSW Championships in July, where Will Tanchevski, Stella Tanchevski and Charlotte Faulks competed in the Alpine (slalom) and ski cross disciplines.
The second event held this past weekend was the ACT Schools Cup, where ACT school students competed in a smaller field for their respective schools in the Alpine Discipline. Will, Stella and Charlotte again took part and represented Mother Teresa very proudly. In much nicer conditions thankfully.
Thanks to the hard work done by Kate O’Keefe and Jodie Tanchevski, who helped make these events possible.
Upcoming Events
● North Gungahlin Track and Field (4 September)
● ACT Track and Field (16 September)
