The Whole school focus theme for this year is: Be Just Like Jesus

To be like Jesus is to be a person willing to put others before yourself, to seek wisdom, and to care about how you interact with all people you come across in life.

Grade Masses

Thank you to Fr Thonn for celebrating Mass with our Year 3 students and teachers on Tuesday. It was a truly beautiful mass and the children sang beautifully and were totally involved throughout the ceremony.  Our Year 4 classes will be celebrating next week.

Invitation For New Altar Servers

All children who are in year 3 and above and who have received the Sacrament of First Eucharist to join us as Altar Servers.  The Parish will be hosting an introductory training session at the Church on Sunday 25 October at 2:00pm.  If your child would like to attend, even if they aren't sure but would like to see what it involves, please complete the form in the Church foyer and drop it in the red box, or complete this online form https://forms.gle/PF6bvjjsgwz7nZiB9.

Booking to attend Mass

To attend Mass in person, please follow this link to make a booking.  We are very happy that the ACT Government has eased restrictions again.  From Friday 9 October 2020 churches will be allowed to have up to 200 people at each Mass providing we can adhere to the 4sqm social distancing guidelines.  Using our church and hall spaces we will be able to have 154 people at each Mass so we encourage you to all come back to Mass if it is safe for you to do so.  We look forward to seeing you!

THIRTIETH SUNDAY IN

ORDINARY TIME

"Love the Lord your God, and your neighbour as yourself."

Something to Think About

What does it mean to love someone? Who do you love?

Sometimes it seems easy to love people but, at other times, loving is not easy.

Is there someone that you find difficult to love?

Since God loves us so much, we are called to love God and other people.

The Story

The religious leaders are trying to trick Jesus again in today’s story, by asking him which is the greatest commandment. This is an easy one for Jesus!

First of all you must love God, and secondly you must love your neighbour.

The two commands go together and form the basis of the entire Scriptures.

The Scriptures

A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to Matthew         22:34-40

Love the Lord your God, and your neighbour as yourself.

After Jesus had made the Sadducees look foolish,

the Pharisees heard about it and got together.

One of them was an expert in the Jewish Law.

So he tried to test Jesus by asking,

"Teacher, what is the most important commandment in the Law?"

Jesus answered:

"'Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind.'

This is the first and most important commandment.

The second most important commandment is like this one.

And it is, 'Love others as much as you love yourself.'

All the Law of Moses and the Books of the Prophets

are based on these two commandments."

The Gospel of the Lord. Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

Discussion

Invite the children to describe the love their parents have for them.

Then ask the children to describe the love that God has for them.

Invite everyone to share stories about the ways they have seen other people demonstrating their love for another person or for God.
