Dear Parents
Welcome back for Term 3. Just when we all thought life was easing up on restrictions the reverse has occurred. With the latest expectation regarding the spread of COVID, schools have been directed to restrict excursions and involvement in gala days. These restrictions have been implemented in an effort to reduce the impact on schools endeavouring to cover classes due to staff absences, supervision levels and limited availability of relief staff. This week we have already had to split three classes due to staff absences.
This week we welcomed the following staff:
- Mrs Atina Hrstich - Kinder Rose (Friday)
- Mrs Kari Turnbull - 2 Lime (Monday, Tuesday & Thursday)
- Miss Sophia Caputo - 2 Lime (Wednesdays & Fridays)
- Miss Therese Cronin - 3 Sapphire
- Mrs Carly Flemington - Defence Support Mentor (Monday & Tuesday and every odd week Wednesday)
- Mrs Steph Reed - Student Office Administration (Monday & Tuesday) & Classroom Support Assistant (Wednesday-Friday)
Chess Club
During the break, I reached out to our Chess Coodinator to consider when chess sessions could recommence. I discovered our Chess Coordinator is currently overseas until mid-term so no arrangements can be made until then. We are looking at holding the sessions during one of our lunch breaks on a Thursday.
Next Pupil Free Day
As advised in the Director's letter circulated at the end of the last term, all ACT Catholic schools have been granted Pupil Free days on Friday Week 3 (5th August) and Friday in Week 8 (9th September).
It is that time of year when I am required to submit our expected enrolment numbers for 2023 to Catholic Education. If you are aware your child will not be returning to MTS in 2023, please advise via email as soon as possible.
We would also like to wish any students who are leaving us this term all the very best as they settle in to their new school.
Building Fund Statements
Building Fund Statements have been emailed out earlier this week to all families who contributed to the building fund in the 2021/2022 financial year.
Tissues & Wipes need re-stocking
We are running low on tissues and antibacterial wipes in our classrooms. If all students could please supply one packet of each to their classroom teacher it would be greatly appreciated.
COVID Reminders
Families still need to advise the school should a child be at home with COVID via our specific email address, covid.motherteresa@cg.catholic.edu.au then followed up with a Compass absentee notification through the Compass Parent Portal.
RAT kits are still available from the office should you require kits for regular testing, particularly if your child is a close contact.
God Bless
Carmel Maguire
