Principal's Message Term 2 Week 10 2024
Dear MTS Families,
As another busy term draws to a close we would like to acknowledge all of the hard working and dedicated staff at Mother Teresa School. This term we have been faced with staff shortages due to illness, however like any committed workforce, our staff continue to provide quality educational experiences for our children regardless of the obstacles.
Reports
Reports were released yesterday afternoon via your Compass portal. Please remember your child’s report is only part of the story, reflect on the positive achievements you heard during the parent-teacher conferences held over the past few week. For families leaving the school today it is essential to download the reports as your access to Compass will cease. If there is ever a problem we can email past reports on request.
Lunch Time Dance Club
With our hall refurbishment delayed until the end of Term 3, we will be offering our Wednesday Dance Club in Term 3. Cassie, our dance teacher, is happy to continue to offer her program. Enrolments will open soon so check her website https://www.playagency.com.au/enrolment/
Staff and Families Leaving
This term we farewell a number of staff, Lina Vigliotta, Jan Rawlins, Lauren Pye, Steph Reed and several families. They have all contributed to building our community and will be missed. I wish them all the very best for their new ventures near and far.
A reminder that if you are leaving to please advise the front office as soon as possible, as we still have several families on a waiting list to join our community.
Message from Carmel Maguire
I would like to express my sincere thanks to Lina Vigliotta and Craig Hart for their leadership over the last fourteen weeks in my absence. The school was in excellent hands and has continued to run smoothly. I will be returning to MTS from the commencement of next term, working part days. This mean Craig will continue in his role as Acting Principal when I am not at the school. I am very much looking forward to reconnecting with the staff, parents and especially the children.
Have a lovely holiday and stay safe if travelling.
God Bless,
Craig and Lina

WHOLE SCHOOL FOCUS
The Whole school focus theme for this year is ‘COME HOLY SPIRIT’.
This term at Mother Teresa School we will use the theme that: We are called to Dream.
“Don't be afraid to dream big because we have a big God who can do all things. It is only through God's power that we can accomplish all the dreams he has put in our hearts.” Matthew 19:26
Our value next two weeks is: Love we do this ‘The Mother Teresa School Way by’:
- You value close relationships with others and being close to people.
- When you’re with other people, you are present and give them your full attention.
- You deliberately work to identify and appreciate others’ character strengths.
- Everything you say and do can affect others – and your relationships with them.
- When other people succeed, you are happy for them and cheer them on.
- When other people are struggling, you do your best to help them out.
THANKYOU
Thank you, 5 Platinum and 5 Silver, along with their teachers, Mrs Matthew and Mrs Burgess for a beautiful and moving Prayer Focus to celebrate, Love @ MTS.
The scripture passage was very appropriate for today’s Prayer focus. “Give your food to the hungry and care for the homeless. Then your light will shine in the dark; your darkest hour will be like the noonday sun.” Isaiah 58:10
The message the students gave us was: At Mother Teresa School we care for those in need through Mini Vinnies and special events like today’s PJ Day. It teaches you, our students, the next generation, the importance of sharing with those less fortunate and reminds us all to promote opportunities to the less fortunate throughout the year. Through these small acts of kindness and love we can do great things much like Mother Teresa. Thank you to all the parents and friends who came along to support the students.
Thank you!
Thank you to the wonderful MTS community for your support of the Vinnies Winter Appeal. It was a great day on Friday and a fabulous day to be able to wear our PJ’s. It was a beautiful sunny day and we were warm and cosy in our pyjamas. Our CSYMI/Mini Vinnies students did a great job collecting all the wonderful donations of food. The students and teachers had a fabulous PJ Day, and we hope that those in need will benefit.
RECONCILIATION (Children in Year 3 or older)
Thank you to all those parents who have responded to registering their child in the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
Week 2 Term 3
- Information Session - Tuesday 30 July 1:00pm and 6:00pm at the Church
- Enrolment weekend - Saturday 3 August and Sunday 4 August
Something to Think About
Do you know what a prophet is? A prophet is one who has eyes to see what needs to be changed in the world; ears to hear the call of God and the cry of the poor and a mouth that challenges people to change their ways.
The Story
Everybody listened to Jesus when he spoke, and he often had surprising things to say. He was announcing the arrival of God’s kingdom, which meant a new way of doing and being. He was not always popular. His message was not one everyone wanted to hear. In this story we see his own family questioning who he is and what he is on about. Sometimes those closest to us have the least understanding of who we are or what we are trying to achieve.

Happy Holidays!
Stay safe!
We look forward to seeing you refreshed and relaxed next term.
Peace and best wishes
